Summit of Hawkeye Point (IA state highpoint)

So far we've driven over 2,000 miles already. Today we had to drive about 370 miles from Charles Mound in IL to Hawkeye Point in Iowa. We didn't get there until around 9:00pm, but luckily the sun was still bright enough to take some photos.

It was pretty easy to find and only about 15 miles off of i90. You can pretty much drive right up to the summit.

I was really impressed with how decorated the summit was. The owners of the farm seemed to be really enthusiastic about welcoming high-pointers to their little slice of Iowa. It was a really fun place to wonder around and stretch out from all the driving.

We are staying in Sioux Falls right now and we have a tremendous day of driving ahead of us tomorrow. I think we have about 700 miles to do in order for us to stay on schedule. We have stuck pretty close to the schedule so far, so I have no doubts we will be able to keep it up.
