Tomorrow I will be breaking the 12,450 total miles traveled mark for the Summer of DeFeo. That is literally half the distance around the world. By the time my trip is over I am expecting to have logged over 27,000 miles over the course of the summer between flying and driving.
To conserve my costs, I linked my iPhone up to my google voice account while abroad. I've been making phone calls for most of the day and haven't had to pay a penny. Thanks Google!
Zurich is very nice and very clean. I visited one of the Lindt Chocolate factories today. I threw a Veruca Salt tantrum demanding an Oompa Loompa ("But daddy, I want an Oompa Loompa. I want an Oompa Loompa NOW!). The swiss have apparently NOT seen the movie and did not find it as amusing as I did.
I haven't had much time to really explore as much as I would have liked. I've been pretty jet lagged and I drank a bottle of wine I bought in Duty free today once I got back to the hotel and took a nap for a couple of hours. I don't always drink Grenache, but when I do it's Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The blog is starting to pick up I see. We had over 100 visitors today! It's just going to get better from here on out. Tomorrow I fly to Malaga and join up with Rich and Dutch. Then on Wednesday, we rented a Yacht to tool around the Mediterranean a bit. Pictures will be furnished once I see it...I've been told that it's big enough that we could feasibly invite T-Pain and film a rap video on it. I got my swim trunks and my floppy floppies and I'll pick up my nautical themed pashmina afghan in Duty free tomorrow (YouTube Pardon the language...it's a funny video though).
I spoke to Capt. Tim today and everything is all set for my climbing adventure once I get back state-side. We are going to be tackling 3 mountains. The high points for Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.
Stay tuned for more excitement.
The pictures better be good...let's get some of the locals too. You could probably purchase a house for the price of your ticket to Europe.
ReplyDeleteGood cigar shop/lounge in Frankurt btw. Cigars aren't too expensive there, unlike Zurich.
Oh, and I am glad you did not do Thailand...I really didn't feel like coming to search for you in boat as the rivers swelled over the bar that your were sitting, sipping on a tiki drink, while getting fitted for a white dinner jacket (which are very reasonable there).
