We got some free breakfast at Shula's steakhouse yesterday and left Indianapolis around noon to drive up to Chicago for the 4th. We got in around 2pm and I crossed yet another item off my Bucket list by driving into Chicago along Lake Shore Drive blasting the song "Beat City" from The Flowerpot Men like in the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off (See Photo).
We checked into the Ritz Carlton and hit the gym for 2 hours to do a little training for our climb of Harney Peak in South Dakota on Monday. It also was better than battling the brutal heat. The Ritz in Chicago has really upped their game since the Four Season bought them.
We then went to get some 4th of July BBQ at Chicago Q where they pretty much have the best hush puppies I've ever had.
Next stop was Navy pier for the fireworks where I came dangerously close to jumping off to get away from the swarm of hot sweating people. In a desperate attempt to throw money at the problem to make it go away, I bought a ticket for the Architectural boat tour of the city. Wow...amazing! ...Easily the best decision of the day.
Check out the photos of Chicago by night.
***P.S. I think I am going to start logging the best/worst decisions of the day in each town/city we hit.***
***P.P.S. Worst decision of the day...ordering a pitcher of strawberry margaritas at Margharitaville...it's been repeating on me all night.***
