Population density...

We drove like 90% of the day yesterday to make the big push up north to Glacier National Park in Montana. We left Nemo, SD around 10am, drove through Wyoming to Decker, MT and then north to the East Glacier National Park entrance. All in all we drove approx 900 miles. We just broke the 4,000 mile mark for the trip. One observation that is absolutely mind boggling is that there were probably less than 1 million people living along the entire stretch of road that we traveled for 900 miles. However, a 900 mile drive up the eastern seaboard starting in Atlanta and ending in Boston is probably home to 75+ million people.

At one point after driving for almost 8 hours we reached what appeared to be the biggest city we've seen all day...Great Falls, MT. When we looked up the population, I realized that I had been to baseball games with more people in the stands than people living in Great Falls.

We have started to gauge the size of towns by how many gas stations they have.

We have been surviving on a diet of mostly spicy chicken sandwiches from Wendy's so we have been making an effort to eat at some places "off the beaten track".

Last night we got to our destination around 2am and we drove around looking for campsites where I could pitch a tent and sleep under the stars.

P.S. Brian wussed out and slept in the car.

It was 57 degrees and the perfect temperature for me to sleep outside.

Below are some random pictures from the day.

One is a shot of one of the fan blades from a wind turbine and a outdoor museum dedicated to them.
