Lake Country

Ok so I'm like 25 miles from the Canadian Border in a little lake town called Grand Marais. It is a really cool laid back town with a few shops and a mostly seasonal population...I'm assuming. The major modes of transportation are sea plane, kayak, car and bike (in that order).

After getting some breakfast and walkin around town a bit I set out for Eagle Mountain...the highest point in the state of Minnesota.
My hiking speed has increased dramatically in the last couple of weeks. I was up to the summit and back in around 3 hours...total distance was a little over 7.5 miles. I was a nice hike--not too difficult or steep. There was one section where you had to cross over these bogs and wetlands using a series of planks. There were also a ton of wild mushrooms. Between the planks and the mushrooms, I felt like Super Mario.

I got a last minute deal and booked a hotel right on the lake. Last night I was lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves.
