So I got started making my way off the north shore back to Duluth for lunch. I stopped at the split rock light house, but didn't pay the $20 they wanted to take pictures from the cliff so I took some further down the road.
Surprise, surprise, I hit up another Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives location once I got to Duluth. It was a Smoked Meat/Fish shop in Duluth called the "Northern Waters Smokehaus". I had a Bon Mai sandwich that was probably one of the best I've ever had.
I got a little held up in Duluth walking around the city so I started running a bit behind schedule. I had hoped to get to Timms Hill (The Wisconson high point) by 5pm and I didn't get there until after dark at 8:30. So I had to pull out the head lamps and hike the half mile to the summit in the dark. Even though it was only 1,951 feet above sea level, the views were pretty fantastic...Well, sort of. You kind of had to go a bit "higher" to get the real views. I would just like to point out the reading on my GPS says the altitude is 2021 feet. In case you were wondering, thats because I roped in and climbed the 70 foot cell phone tower that was built on the summit. Yes...I have totally lost my mind (To my parents that are reading this...don't worry it was perfectly safe a bunch of people do it and there is a safety cable and ladder. To everybody else, truth be told it was a little scary).
So after changing my shorts, I got back to the car and started making my way up to Mt Arvon in Michigan. I made it about 50 miles before getting tired and pulling over to a campground to call it a night.
