27,500 miles!!!

I broke the 27,500 miles traveled mark today. 14,500 by air, 13,000 by car. Considering that I put another 300 miles on the car driving to St. Louis, I'm actually a bit closer to 28,000 miles. I'm expecting to break the 30,000 mark by the end of the trip.

So a very special thanks to Knaus BMW in Lake Forest for the excellent service they provided to get me back on the road without a delay. When I got in the car this morning the check engine light came on and I feared for the worst. I brought the car into Knaus and they diagnosed and fixed the problem in under an hour and got me back on the road.

I decided to make the trek to St. Louis. I arrived around 4:30pm and went to the top of the Gateway arch. A quick observation...I'm pretty sure the Tram cars that take you to the top of the Arch are the same design as the escape pods from SpaceBalls. Take a look, I posted pictures of both...see if you can tell the difference.

I drove through old town a bit. Then I went to the "Iron Barley"...my 20th Diners, Drive-ins and Dives location. I had some Spaetzle and Schnitzle and a Peach Barley Pudding with a Jack Daniels whipped Cream sauce.

My last stop was Taum Sauk (The Missouri State High Point). After tagging the summit, I pitched camp on the top of the mountain and called it a night.
